LGBTQ+ Rights

This photo is from Photos for Class

Hey guys,

A big problem in our country (and world) right now is LGBTQ+ rights. Did you know that in 13 countries (or in parts of 13 countries) being gay or bisexual is punishable by death? And the first legal same-sex marriage in the USA happened in 2005. For many years people could be killed on the streets just for kissing their girlfriend/boyfriend.

In 2016, James Shupe was the first person to get legal recognition of being non-binary.

Studies have shown that LGBTQ+ youth attempt suicide more than three times as much as straight youth do. A Canadian study showed that the risk of suicide among young LGBTQ+ people is fourteen times higher than for heterosexual (straight) young people.

So, as you can see, this is a huge issue that is hurting everyone on this planet. Luckily, things have gotten better than they were before, but we still have a long way to go. I hope everyone understands that this needs to stop.
